Most of the searches contain a and a .  The Clear button clears the values entered by the user from the current form.  The List button lists all of the properties that match the criteria entered by the user.

All of the searches have a Number of selections to return: 10 20 50 100 .  Use this to select the maximum number of properties the search will list.

Note About Building Drawings:

When displaying individual parcel information, there will be a Button at the bottom of the page along with either a

  Don't Show Building Drawing check box or a

  Show Building Drawing check box.

Due to certain technical difficulties in printing and sizing the building drawing, it may overlay other information on the printed page. Checking the Don't Show Building Drawing check box and pressing the button will redisplay the parcel information page without the building drawing. Printing that page without the drawing will produce a page with all information correctly printed except for the drawing.

Additionally, certain buildings with a very large footprint may not be able to be displayed on the screen at all.

Select the desired subdivision from the list and press the List button.

A subdivision is the actual subdivision name as filed in our office which distinguishes it from the area search. Subdivision is the more common way of describing a property location whereas an area is used primarily by the field appraisers.

If an area or subdivision is not listed in the drop down box, contact our Customer Service Department for help in finding out how to locate what you are seeking.

To search for a property by owner name, enter a partial or complete last and/or first name.  If no first name is entered, the search uses a wild card search on the last name.  For Example, if "Sm" is entered in the last name, all last names (in alphabetic order) beginning with "Sm" will be listed.  If a first name is entered, the search assumes the last name is complete and a wild card is used on the first name.  For example, if "Johns" is entered as a last name and "Ma" is entered as a first name, all last names equal to "Johns" that have a first name beginning with "Ma" will be listed.

To search for a property by address please enter all or part of the steet number, street direction, and select a street name/type from the drop down list box. The street names listed in this box represent every street name and type combination that we have on file. Our physical location addresses are not 100% complete and if it does not appear in the drop down box, then we do not have it in our file.

Names are sorted alphabetically, from left to right, character by character, and a number comes before a letter. ie; 119TH comes before 11TH because the first two characters '11' are equal but of the third characters, '9' comes before 'T'. Open the drop down box and scroll through the list to find the street name.

Type a character in this field, while it is highlighted, and the first occurence of the street name will pop into the window. Continue to hit (or hold down) the same character and the next sequential name will appear. You can scroll through every occurence of names beginning with that character by continuing to type that character.

For instance, highlight the Street Name/Type field and type the letter 'F'. The entry FAIRMONT ST will pop into the box. Type 'F' again and the entry changes to FAWN DR . Typing an 'F' a third time displays FLORIDA AVE . Once you reach the end of the names that begin with an 'F' it will wrap around and display FAIRMONT ST again.

The City for a Physical Address is determined by the Millage Code in which the property is located. This has no relationship to the city for the owner's mailing address. A Physical Address has no zip code associated with it, only a Mailing Address has a zip code. A Physical Address may be the same as a Mailing Address but it may also be different.

Millage Codes are associated with city names and most are obvious; Alachua, Archer, etc. Addresses that are not located inside of a city's limit fall into the County or County HUD millage codes.

The general location for County HUD (Housing and Urban Development) is the area surrounding the city of Gainesville. Outlying areas not in a city are labelled as County.

Select the desired area from the list and press the List button.

An area is defined by an appraiser as a group of parcels having similar characteristics concerning assessments, one of which may or may not be the physical location or subdivision.

Select the desired Section, Township, and Range then press the List button.  The Section, Township, AND Range must be entered to get a property listing.  All properties located within a grant have a Section of "00".

To search for a property by parcel number, locate the parcel number on a trim notice, tax bill, homestead notice, or Ag exemption notification.  The number will have the format: 99999 999 999  -OR-  99999-999-999. After locating the number enter it into the Parcel Number field. The leading zeros do not need to be entered, but a separator (blank or -) must be entered between the 3 parts of the parcel number.

For example, Parcel Number 00034 050 001, could be entered any of the following ways:

• 34 50 1
• 34-50-1
• 00034 050 001
• 00034-050-001

If a specific parcel number is not known, then a parcel range can be entered and the search will return a list of parcels within the range.

Select the desired Property Type from the drop down box. The first 10 are groupings of commonly related property types and encompass multiple property use codes. Following these are each individual property use code and description. A Property Use Code defines the primary usage of a property.

Select one or any number of combinations of parameters to narrow your search. Each of these parameters are available as individual search options but here they are combined to allow for further refinement of your search request.
